Hi all.
I have been envisioning what candidate support will look like virtually come fall. I am wondering what that shift from brick and mortar to remote or blended teaching will look like and feel like when working on the components for next year. Somethings will obviously be transferable and other things not so much. We connected our candidates to read for each other when our writing institute was canceled in March. We are creating Google Classrooms with support materials but I feel there is so much more we can do. I would love to hear what others are doing in different states and districts to support candidates. Please share your ideas here.
Thanks.

In Kansas, we have such a great diverse teacher base to begin. We remote with the preferred technologies of the candidate (Google, Facebook, yes, this year even Canvas), call, text, email and yes even travel to remote locations to support. Remember we have dense population on the east side and many miles between schools (such as busing 1 to 2 hours one way for students to arrive at school) on the west.
Our candidate support starts with asking what are their goals and why did they come to do this OUTSTANDING Professional Development? Then the relationships grow from their. When we all were trained in the early days of NBPTS, we were taught to listen FIRST! Then take on the partnership of support through listening, directing them to the process and finally being honored to see their practice through videos, sharing in various ways (Google, Vimeo, even zipped MP4.
I look forward to learning new platforms, using old platforms but improving to help our candidates this year. JOY comes when you learn!
