Since there seems to be both teachers with questions and teachers with experience with Schoology-- can you help share tips and knowledge about this LMS? Thank you!
Hello Molly,
I have been using Schoology in my classroom for almost three years as a supplemental tool. I signed up for a free account as a teacher. I liked the way it allowed me to organize material, provide individualized review recommendations for students, supplemental video, and even custom games. My students were more engaged because they enjoyed using the app. I modeled ways they could use the app when they were stuck in line or waiting somewhere to use the opportunity to get some history work done. This year my network will be using it to manage our hybrid learning model. The institutional version offer numerous additional benefits.
One of the major benefits is that Schoology plays well with others. It can be used in conjunction with websites, Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, YouTube, Kahoot, and other online tools that you may already be using. You can embed key content while allowing students and families to use only one platform. If your school also uses PowerSchool you will also have the benefit of easy grade transfer. (This was a pain point for me last year when my school used Teams for managing assignments.) Additionally, there are convenient communities within Schoology that allow you to draw on best practices from other teachers and schools outside of your immediate network.
Finally, I like Schoology because it allows you to easily tie activities and assessments to your standards or learning objectives so that you can more easily hone in on detail about a particular student. This makes differentiation, and student organization easier.
This week Powerschool—who recently purchased Schoology—offered a free online conference. I highly recommend that you explore the video associated with Blended Learning here: https://vshow.on24.com/vshow/PowerSchool_VE/#exhibits/Blended_Learning.
I think this will increase your comfort level.
Hope this helps!😀

I have never used Schoology, which is the platform my school will be using this year for distant learning. Any and all information for this LMS would be greatly appreciated!
